The laboratory is part of the group of Prof. Crivelli located at the ETH Hönggerberg campus. A multitude of the groups fundamental physics experiments to explore the origin of the baryon asymmetry in the Universe (i.e. why are we living in a matter dominated Universe) and the origin of Dark Matter are running here. Moreover the laboratory serves the strong focus on the dissemination of results originating from particle physics research.
We are the only place on campus where you can find anti-matter, namely our two positron beams. Having seen it's great potential in the wake of fundamental studies we developed a high interest in advancing positron(ium) material characterization methods, making this technique more available for the whole scientific community and introduce it to industry.
The applied research to push this technology and to explore its numerous applications is in collaboration with the group of Prof. J. Ramirez Perez (Institute for Chemical and Bioengineering of ETHZ), Prof. D. Gidley (Michigan University, Ann Arbour), Prof. V. Woods (Materials and Device Engineering Group of ETHZ) and Prof. B. Barbiellini (Northestearn University, Boston).
